What colour modes should my artwork be in (RGB vs CMYK vs Pantone)?

Edited

Colour mode depends on the decoration method.

  • DFT (Direct-Film-Transfer) uses CMYK, which is ideal for full-colour digital printing.

  • Screen printing uses Pantone spot colours (PMS) for maximum colour accuracy and consistency.

  • Embroidery relies on thread colour matching, which is selected visually rather than digitally.

If your artwork for a digital print (DFT) was created in RGB, it will still print fine, but expect slight variation in colours due to the colour conversion. RGB is designed for digital screens, not ink or thread. For the most predictable results, convert your files to CMYK before sending them, or provide your brand’s Pantone colour numbers so we can match them as closely as possible.
